The Department of Energy, Idaho Operations Office intends to issue a competitive solicitation to obtain services to manage the National Hot Dry Rock (HDR) activities. The contractor will be required to interact with industry and government to integrate HDR activities with industry needs for a balanced and efficient research program that is responsive to both industry and DOE needs. The contractor requirements are: (1) A masters' degree, Ph.D. preferred, in Geophysics, Petroleum or Reservoir Engineering, with several years of research and operations experience in reservoir management or well completion and stimulation techniques, (2) previous Geothermal experience with technical and field studies, preferably reservoir permeability and enhancement, (3) good knowledge of Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry and the Thermophysics of energy conversion, (4) strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written), and (5) the ability to organize and work with teams and panels. DOE-ID intends to issue a competitive solicitation for an Industrial Hot Dry Rock Manager before May 1997.
