T -- RECREATIONAL BOATERS COAST PILOT SOL 52-DGNC-7-90048 POC Greg Smith, (301) 713-0823, or by fax at (301) 713-0806 The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS) produces the United States Coast Pilot in 9-volumes as textual supplements to its nautical charts. These volumes are used principally by commercial mariners. NOS is developing a prototype of a recreational boaters coast pilot which includes both a reduced version of a full-sized color nautical chart and corresponding Coast Pilot information. This prototype may be constructed using digital information in raster and SGML format. NOS is seeking sources capable of developing and marketing a low cost version(s) of the Government's new product. To some extent, the contractor could make value-added revisions to the charts. Each chart would be geared to specific coastal and intracoastal waters of the U.S. including the Great Lakes. A Request for Comment (RFC) and draft Statement of Work (SOW) are available by contacting the individual identified above. Responses to the RFC and draft SOW are requested by Feb 28, 1997. (0029)
