US Army has a requirement to acquire a Airborne Position Location
System (APLS). The APLS must be capable of acquiring precision position
location data on parachutist and airdrop of equipment loads. The
position location data is used to evaluate and test the equipment and
procedures. The Contractor will provide the hardware and software for
an initial acquisition of the Global Positioning System (GPS)
Constellation and a continuous reception of that signal. The data
acquisition period is for five seconds prior to the item of interest
exit from the aircraft until two seconds after the item of interest has
impacted the ground. There are two Hardware Requirements; one for a
modified Precision Light Weight Receiver (PLGR) and the other for
Computer Hardware consisting of three Pentium Class Notebook Computers,
with 32 MB RAM, Active Plasma Display, 2 GB Hard Drive, Internal
Comm/FAX Modem, Built in Mouse, 3.5" F/Drive, Ether Net LAN adapter,
and Internal CD ROM Drive etc. Contractor will also provide all
software required to perform the data reduction routines for the
position location problems and a Ready to Use System. This is a Firm
Fixed Price Contract. The Tentative Issue for the Solicitation is 20
Feb. 1997. It is 100% Set-Aside for Small Business Concerns. All
