vessel to be acquired is a steel fuel oil barge to serve the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg Division in support of marine services
on the Mississippi RIver and its tributaries. The vessel is 195 feet in
length, 35 feet in beam and 12 feet in depth at side. Cargo capacity is
anticipated at 351,000 gallons. The vessel will be USGG certified as
Subchapter D Tank Vessels. The vessel will be classed by the American
Bureau of Shipping as a Maltese Cross A1 Oil Barge with AMS in River
Service. The vessel will meet all requirements of the Oil Pollution Act
of 1990 (OPA90). The contract is a "Design and Build" type based upon
an "As-Built Design" of a similar vessel and will utilize the Marine
Design Center three phase contracting phase contracting process.
Liquidated damages are included in the contract and bonding is
required. The Invitation for Bid (IFB) will be available on or about 20
February 1997 with a Bid Opening Date of 20 March 1997 at 11:00 a.m.

employees. The procurement is 100% Set-Aside for Small Business. This
