Environmental Technology (HCET) at Florida International University
(FIU) is seeking qualified suppliers to aid in an engineering study for
the comparative analysis of surface removal technologies for structural
steel. The study is being performed to support the United States
Department of Energy Office of Science and Technology. The study will
be conducted at the campus of FIU in Miami, Florida. Four surrogate
types will be tested. The four types of surrogates will include:
painted I-beams, painted plates, rusted I-beams, and rusted steel
plates. Each technology will be tested a minimum of four hours of
actual operating time for each surrogate type. The number of surrogates
used during the four hour test period will depend upon the specific
technology being tested. HCET will provide sufficient number of
surrogates for each test period. The technologies in the study will
include innovative and non-nuclear technologies for surface removal.
The qualified suppliers will be askedto optimize the operation of the
operation as it is applied to each surrogate. The qualified firm shall
have two years minimum operations experience with the given
technology. The qualified firms are to provide references of comparable
jobs completed. Interested firms should send a Letter of Qualification
stating how the firm meets the minimum requirements, including
address, contact person, telephone and fax numbers to Mr. Leonel E.

Miami, Florida 33199 no later than 2/28/97. The letter of
Qualification will be used to prequalify proposed firms. The Request
for Proposal (RFP) will be available to the qualified firms
