The VA Medical Center, Richmond, VA intends to negotiate a sole source
procurement with Abbott Laboratories, Diagnostic Divison, AP6C Dept.
921, One Abbott Park Road, Abbott Park, IL 60064 to lease a Chemistry
Analyzer (Axsym, Serial # 6326) or equal and to purchase Reagents. The
tests required are: Amphetamine/Methamphetamine, Barbituates,
Benzodiazepine, Cannabinoids, Cocaine, Ethanol, Methadone, Opiates,
PCP, Acetaminophen, Carbamazepine, Digoxin, Gentamicin, NAPA,
Procainamide, Phenytoin, Phenobarbital, Quinidine, Salicylate,
Theophylline, Tricyclic Antidepressants, Valproic Acid, Vancomycin,
CEA. The analyzer must be an automated immunoassay instrument that
provides full random continuous and immediate access with STAT testing
capabilities accomplished by an independent relationship between
sampling and processing. The menu must include: therapeutic drugs,
thyroids, fertility, metabolic tumor markers, drugs of abuse
toxicology. These assays will either be done by FPIA (low molecular
weight) of MEIA (high molecular weight)technology. The instrument must
be ASTM complaint; bi-directional interface. The analyzer must
automatically perform diagnostic checks prior to every run and
automatically alert the operator of any discrepancies by use of a
visual and audible alarm. The analyzer must be self contained with no
external plumbing requirements. The reagents, calibrators, and controls
must be fully reconstituted and require no temperature equilibration.
The disposable reaction vessels and matrix cells should be provided at
not charge. The analyzer must be capable of on board dilution; be able
to perform reflex testing. The analyzer must be capable of processing
multiple technologies simultaneously; must perform drugs of abuse using
FPIA in a random access format. The analyzer must have adjustable gray
zones for abused drugs. The contract will be for one year with the
option to renew for three (3) additional years.Bidders offering an
