A -- MARKET SURVEY HIGHER POWER DENSITY DIESEL ENGINE POC POC: Rick khouri (810) 574-8565 This is not a request for proposal. This is a survey for information and planning purposes only. The u.s. Army Tank-Automotive and armaments command, research, development and engineering center (TARDEC) is seeking a contract for research in the areas of advanced ceramic and other Technologies to improve the mobility of future fighting vehicles. The purpose of this research effort is to demonstrate the capabilities of ceramics, other advanced materials, tribology, and combustion Technologies to contribute to a higher power density and lower fuel comsumption disel engine. This will be accomplished by: (A) conducting analytical studies to identify specific engine parameters, materials, and components, to meet specified engine performance goals; and (B) developing, testing, and evaluating technology to optimize single cylinder demonstrator engine performance, and demonstrating the mechanical integrity and durability by using single cylinder engine test runs under both analytically simulated and actual test conditions.
