The Air Force Flight Test Center is seeking sources and industry capabilities in the area of aircraft maintenance at Edwards AFB CA. The requirements of the proposed effort will be for a contractor to establish and maintain technical and logistics capability to perform all on and off aircraft tasks (to include flight test modifications) directly related to support the test mission at Edwards AFB on an as needed basis. The level of maintenance will be intermediate and organizational. The types of aircraft's as yet has not been set, but will include the F-16, B-1, and all other aircraft's assigned on or in transient status at Edwards AFB. The contractor will be required to utilize maintenance and technical processes consistent with Air Force and/or commercial aircraft industry-accepted methods. Some of the issues under consideration are; availability and capabilities of contractors to perform such tasking; the use of government furnished property vs contractor provided property; capability of rapid mobilization to Edwards; pre-positioned equipment and tools vs mobilization of same at time of required need; and contract pricing structure and type. In order to gather information from industry, this activity will be hosting a conference to discuss the above considerations and to entertain suggestions on possible other approaches and techniques. The conference will be held on 18 Feb 97 at 0900-1100 am, Bldg 2800, Edwards AFB CA.
