The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) modified Contract No. NRC-02-96-004 in the amount of $665683.00 with Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) on a non-competitive basis for the placement of generic uranium recovery work at the Center for Nuclear Waste Regulatory Analyses (CNWRA), a division of SwRI and the NRC's Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC). The work will involve the development of generic uranium recovery standard review guidance, and will reduce the casework backlog in the areas of reclamation plans, inspections, seismicity, and amendment reviews. The proposed period of performance is approximately nine months. This action is being negotiated on a noncompetitive basis with SwRI to maintain essential capabilities at the CNWRA (See FAR 6.302-3(b)(2)). It has been determined that this work falls within the CNWRA's areas of special competencies. (0035)
