-- The work involves removing and replacing underground storage tanks
(USTs), demolishing and reconstructing NEX Gas Station at NAS Miramar.
The Contractor shall also be responsible for obtaining all required
permits and approvals from the County of San Diego Air Pollution
Control District (APCD) and Site Assessment and Mitigation Division
(SAM) for the removal and installation of USTs and gasoline piping and
dispensers. The work includes excavate and remove two 56,800-liter and
one 37,850-liter underground storage tank(s) and associated piping and
appurtenances for disposal. Collect and test soil samples from
underground storage tank removal excavation. Sample and Analysis
required for tank closure, and disposal and/or treatment fo tank
contents, tank rinsate, deconmaintation water, contaminated soil;
Install three 56,800-liter underground fuel storage tanks associated
piping, monitoring and alarm system. Install government furnished
equipment and accessories. Demolish and remove concrete and asphalt
pavement, concrete dispenser islands, existing dispenser units, and
steel canopy. Provide and install pre-engineered canopy and colums, and
incidental related work complete and ready for use. -- The estimated
cost is between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. -- Firm Fixed Price
Contract. -- Contract duration is approximately 90 calendar days. --
This proposed contract will be unrestricted. -- The Standard Industrial
Code is 1629 and the annual size standard is $17 million. It is
recommended the subcontracting goals reflect a minimum goal of 5% for
Small Disadvantaged Business Subcontracting effort. Bidders should
request in writing stating IFB number N68711-96-B-2243, with complete
name, address, area code and phone number and whether bidding as a
prime/subcontractor/supplier. -- Telephone requests will not be
accepted. -- There will be a charge for plans and specs that is yet to
be determined. The fee will be non-refundable. -- Mail requests with

project. -- Solicitation packages are limited to two (2) sets per prime
and one (1) set per subcontractor/supplier. -- Bidders responding under
this advertisement will not be required to resubmit request once
formally advertised. -- Tentative issue date is on or about 10 March
1997 with an opening date of approximately 30 days later (NOTE: BOD
stated above is TENTATIVE). -- Responses are due no later than 15
