The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with SeaBeam Instruments Incorporated of Walpole, Massachusetts for one unit of the TR-232B transducer with cable for a foreign military sale (FMS). Simplified Acquisition Procedures will be used. Anticipated award will be made before 31 March 1997. SeaBeam Instruments is the only company that has successfully completed First Article Acceptance Testing (FAAT) and can deliver in time to meet the requirement s of the FMS. The requirement for FAAT to qualify another source would add an estimated 12 to 18 months to the acquisition cycle at an additional cost to the Government of $180 to $250K. (0036)
