Medical Logistics Command intends to negotiate with Biocron NE, for the
purchase of one (1) Thermoluminescent Dosimetry (TLD) Reader with built
in chipstrate ID and Strontium-90 Irradiator, Biocron Model 8800 EC
System for the Naval Dosimetry Center, Bethesda, MD. See Note 22. This
is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in
accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with
additional information included in this notice. This announcement
constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a
written solicitation will not be issued. Responses must contain
sufficient documentation to establish a bonafide capability to fulfill
the requirements. The solicitation number is N62645-97-R-0008 and is
issued as a Request For Proposals (RFP). The solicitation document and
incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through
Federal Acquisition Circular 90-37. The standard industrial
classification (SIC) code is 5057. The small business size standard is
100 employees. Biocron NE, 6801 Cochran Road, Solon, Ohio 44139 shall
satisfy this requirement by providing the following contract line
items (CLINS): CLIN 0001 Model 8800 EC system which includes, Model
8800E TLD Reader, built-in Chipstrate ID, and built-in Strontium-90
Irradiator, QTY 1 LOT. System specifications: The system shall
calibrate Biocron Thermoluminescent Dosimeters (TLDs) which are used
throughout the Navy. A built-in strontium-90 irradiator is necessary to
provide a source of radiation to dose each Biocron TLD which shall then
be processed by the reader. The reader shall calculate a calibration
factor for each TLD. The system shall include four photomultiplier
tubes, a rack drive assembly, a TLD bar code reader, and a host
computer. The system shall be compatible with Biocron cards, Biocron
readers, and supporting equipment. Delivery is required 30 days after
contract award at: National Naval Medical Center, Naval Dosimetry
Center, Building 54, 8901 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD 208895614;
