J -- MAINTENANCE AND/OR REPAIR OF EQUIPMENT -- POTENTIAL SOURCES SOUGHT POC Ken Thomason, FAX (405) 739-2699. Potential sources sought -- OC-ALC is conducting a market survey for Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) for the KC-10/KDC-10 Aircraft with a projected contract award date of June 1998. There are a quantity of 59 KC-10A aircraft and 2 KDC-10 aircraft. 88 percent of the systems on these aircraft are DC-10 common with each having additional systems and equipment necessary for their military missions. The KC-10A fleet has additional military avionics equipment, an aerial refueling boom, and an aerial refueling receptacle. They are currently being modified to add wing-mounted pods to further enhance aerial refueling capabilities. The KC-10 is also capable of combining the tasks of tanker and cargo aircraft with capacity to carry up to 75 people and about 170,000 pounds of cargo. The current CLS contract includes Programmed Depot Maintenance, drop-in depot level maintenance, depot modifications, component overhaul, logistics supply/support and engine overhauls. The KDC-10 aircraft are modified DC-10-30CF aircraft that were converted to tankers for the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) and have boom refueling capabilities as well as cargo/passenger capabilities. Under the KC-10 contract the CLS contractor will provide support for the peculiar refueling systems on the KDC-10 aircraft. At a minimum, prospective contractors will need to have available facilities including hangar space for three DC-10-30 Aircraft with related DC-10 common support equipment, a paint facility for Aerospace vehicle painting and paint removal that meets the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 410, Chapter 5 and with a vapor control system that prevents vapor concentrations from exceeding 500 parts per million or 20% Lower Explosive Limit (LEL), whichever is lower. These depot facilities will need to be serviced by a runway that meets the minimum requirement for KC-10 operations of 7,000 ft. in length, 150 ft. width and 75 ft. wide taxi areas all capable of supporting a 450K G.W. aircraft. Contractor engine overhaul facilities must be certified to overhaul/repair General Electric CF6-50-C2 engines. Any company interested in this requirement should do so in writing to OC-ALC/PKC; Attn: Ken Thomason; 3001 Staff Drive; Tinker AFB, OK 73145-3064; FAX (405) 739-2699. (0036)
