Phone (703)604-2000 The Program Executive Offic, Air, ASW, Assault and
Special Mission Programs (PMA-290), is conducting a Request for
Information (RFI) to determine the availability of interested sources
to perform the standard depot level maintenance (SDLM) of the fleet of
S-3 T/M/S aircraft. The navy will be looking for a prime contractor,
via the formal competitive procurement process, to provide this fleet
rework in the effort to reduce the present Scheduled Depot Level
Maintenance (SDLM) backlog to manageable levels. An RFI package
(containing the Draft SDLM Spec) is expected to be available to
industry by 1 February 1997. Responses are sought from industry to
address tooling requirements and lead time, required GFE/Support
Equipment, minimum sustainable. biddable quantity and maximum
sustainable biddable quantity, if applicable. Additionally, responses
should address any existing S-3 component repair/refurbishment
contractual ties currently held by respondees with other industry
agencies which this effort might leverage from. A draft SDLM
Specification is available. This request shall not be construed as a
Request for Proposal (RFP) or as an obligation on the part of the
government to acquire any follow-on capabilities. The government does
not intend to award a contract at this time or otherwise pay for the
information provided. No entitlement to payment of direct costs or
charges by the government will arise as a result of submissions of
responses. Any formal RFP will be separately listed in the Commerce
Business Daily. Tentatively, the Government plans to release a draft
RFP package during 1st quarter CY 1997. Contractors interested in
receiving this package should provide company name, address, copy
letter. Contractors responding will be notified when packages are
