66 -- FLUROIMAGER -- MODEL 595 SOL RFQ70036(NR) DUE 021997 POC Marsha Gorham, Purchasing Agent at (301)402-4509 or Patricia Haun, CO The National Cancer Institute proposes to procure a Floroimager (Model 595) from Molecular Dynamics, 928 East Arques Avenue, Sunnyvale, California, 94086. This Fluroimager will be used in a intramural research project which requires a systematic analysis of T cells based on direct heteroduplex analysis of TCR variability at the functional CDR3 region. This type of analysis relies on large scale gel electrophoresis of PCR amplified products for analysis of heteroduplicity. A system that will allow direct imaging of such gels and their interpretation is indispensable for this project and the Molecular Dynamics Floroimager 595 is the only system which can provde a non-radioactive, sensitive methods of automated analysis. The system is multi-purpose, dual excitation, laser induced fluorescence scanner for electrophoreses gels, membranes, TLC plates and microtiter plates. Fluorescence is read directly in the gel or plate with drying or exposure steps required. Finally while the analysis is done independently, different gels can be performed at the same time in parallel and then analyzed serially within a 1-2 minute period for each. It is the Government's belief that these requirements can only be met by Molecular Dynamics. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, if an interested party believes they can meet the above features, they must submit their capabilities, and furnish concise responses directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above. Sources demonstrating the capability to accomplish the above shall supply pertinent information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to perform. Information furnished shall include enough material to perform a proper evaluation.
