Sources are sought to construct, install, operate and maintain a cable television (CATV) system on Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan and surrounding Department of Defense military bases. The possibility exists for expansion and growth in other telecommunications areas. The cable system shall be capable of providing services to all base residences and any other buildings required. The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining all permits, licenses and other agreements necessary to operate in Okinawa, Japan. Currently, a nonexclusive franchise agreement exists with Americable, International of Miami FL to perform CATV services. This agreement was awarded in April 1994 for a period of 10 years.
