29 -- SEALS FOR V-PLANT 2,500 HP STARTER MOTORS SOL F40650-97-R-0012 DUE 032597 POC Kathy P. Swanson, Contract Specialist, (615) 454-7841 This procurement is for replacement oil seals on synchronous motors in the Von Karman Facility. The seals range in size from 9" outer diameter (OD) and approximately 20 lbs for the smaller centrifugal compressors to 24" OD and 57 lbs for the 16,000 HP synchronous motors. These seals were originally placed in service in the 1950's by Allis-Chalmers Corporation Motor Division. Siemens Energy & Automation Company purchased Allis-Chalmers and is the only company that has drawings for these seals. Quantity -- 40 seals. Delivery to Arnold AFB, TN, will be 90 days from contract award. Intended source is Siemens Energy & Automation Company, 4620 Forest Avenue, Norwood, OH 45212-3396, (513) 841-3100. However, all interested sources may identify their interest but must provide proof of capability to provide an acceptable product by submitting pricing data, an accurate description of the product, including part numbers. Only responses containing this data will be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Award will not be made on the basis of responses received to this synopsis.
