Tel: 410-965-9488 The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a
requirement for a contractor to provide high level technical assistance
to the agency. The primary goal for this project is for the contractor
to provide SSA with services to fully utilize Microsoft products and
transition them into the existing system(s). There are five major areas
that SSA will require contractor support to transition Microsoft
products into the existing system(s): 1) Infrastructure and Networking;
2) Intranet and Internet; 3) Enterprise Messaging Engineering; 4)
Enterprise Application Architecture and Design; and 5) Migration
Strategy. The contractor shall use a Microsoft Solution Provider or
equal to provide in the planning and implementation of Microsoft
products, tools, and technologies. The contractor shall provide
institutionalized knowledge transfer of capabilities in Microsoft
technology, methodologies, tools, training and experience to fully
utilize the products and transition them into existing system(s). This
includes providing high-level training and educational services of the
actual software enterprise and structure for use in knowledge transfer.
The contractor shall provide knowledge transfer for new Microsoft
products. The contractor shall provide direct access and ~hands- on~ to
Microsoft product and Microsoft software development information. This
includes providing access to the initial developers for immediate
Agency software trouble shooting and revisions. The contractor shall
provide architectural design, and planning assistance for such products
as Microsoft Windows NT Server, Microsoft Systems Management Server,
Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SNA Server, and Microsoft SQL
Server. The contractor shall provide knowledge transfer, guidance and
assistance to SSA in developing intranet/internet strategies, plans and
prototyping. The contractor shall work directly with SSA staff who are
involved with current and future enterprise messaging initiatives, to
plan and evaluate an enterprise capable messaging architecture and
system based on Microsoft Exchange Server. The contractor shall provide
knowledge transfer and guidance to SSA in developing application
architecture and design for enterprise applications based on Microsoft
Client server tools and technologies. Services in this area may
include the contractor to architect a solution, prototyping, design and
code reviews. The contractor shall work directly with SSA in evaluating
the impact of migrating to Microsoft Exchange will have on employees
with disability (EWD). The contractor shall assist in the determination
and solutions to any accessibility, integration and training issues
between these Office 97 and NT 5.0 products and Assistives Devices. The
period of performance will be twelve months with an option for an
additional twelve months. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. Firms
possessing the capability to furnish the above services are invited to
submit complete information discussing such capabilities; i.e.,
descriptive literature/brochures, and if applicable GSA Schedules. The
information respondents provide shall pertain to this synopsis only.

acceptable. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the
evaluation of the source data received. No cost or pricing data is
required or requested. No contract award will be made on the basis of
the information solicited or received. This is not a request for
proposal and requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored
