The Maritime Administration proposes to obtain through an RFP the services to procure marine spare parts for the Ready Reserve Force Vessels. Those sources deemed responsible must have demonstrated serveral years involvement and successful operation in the procurement of spare parts, consumable items, tools, complete equipment components, end items, and associated equipments for U.S. and foreign-built commercial merchant marine vessels, the commercial marine industry and agencies of the Federal Government. Documented successful capability to locate and procure repair parts manufactured by the original equipment manfacturer (OEM) and difficult to find repair parts for older merchant vessels, commercial roll-on-roll-off (RORO), crane and breakbulk vessels. These include vessels powered by steam. Procuring capabilities must include modern, usually electronic methods for purchasing, receiving, inspecting, staging, and shipment phases of materials being procuremed for use in vessels. The financial capabilities of all proposals must indicate their ability to procure large dollar amounts of spare parts without difficulty, keeping in mind payment most likely will occur 45-60 days after Government receipt of the spare parts. The period of performance is one year with two one-year options. The RFP will be issued on or about February 14, 1997.
