Z -- REPAIR OF COOLING TOWERS SERVING VARIOUS FACILITIES SOL 1-137-GGL.1000 DUE 032897 POC David H. Jones, Contract Specialist, 757-864-2421. NASA Langley Research Center plans to issue an Invitation for Bid for the repair of cooling towers serving various facilities. The work to be performed includes the repair of operational equipment and structural material for 4 cooling towers at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. The 4 cooling towers are as follows: 1. Building 1247 -- Flour three cell wood tower, installed in 1958. Water flow is 5,500 GPMS per cell, 2. Building 1251 -- Pritchard eight cell wood, installed in 1953. Water flow is 2,500 GPMS per cell, 3. Flour two cell wood tower, installed in 1965. Water flow is 2,000 GPMS per cell, 4. Marley one cell wood tower, installed in 1971. Water flow is 800 GPMS. All work shall be inspected by a CTI certified cooling tower inspector who is independent of any cooling tower manufacturer. This procurement is being conducted under the NASA Midrange Pilot Test Program approved by the Office of Federal Procurement Policy. The order of magnitude for the procurement is between $500,000 and $1,000,000 and the effort shall be completed within 270 calendar days after notice to proceed. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The Standard Industrial Classification Code for the procurement is 1711 The corresponding size standard is $7.0M. The anticipated release date of the IFB is on or about 2-26-97 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about 3-28-97. The firm date for receipt of offers will be stated in the IFB or specifications. Drawings will be available from the identified point of contact. All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed. See Note "B". The solicitation and most documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. The documents will reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using client browsers. The WWW address, or URL, of the NASA Procurement home page is: "http://procurement.nasa.gov". Prospective offerors shall notify this office of their intent to submit an offer. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of the solicitation and amendments (if any).
