The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Coastal Systems Station is seeking potential sources for a Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) "Linear Actuator" for use in small underwater towed vehicles. The following are the salient characteristics for the Actuator: (a) Travel: 4 in., (b) Stall Force: 250 to 300 lb., (c) Max operating condition: 200 to 250 lb., (d) Max speed: Greater than 1 in/sec., (e) No load speed: Greater than 1.25 in/sec., (f) Duty cycle: 100 percent, (g) Life requirement: 2000 hrs., (h) Motor type: 120/220 Volts AC, 60 and/or 400 Hz., (i) Separate electronic controller required preferred, (j) Servo controller controlled by rod position, (k) Analog command signal with range +/- 10 VDC or 12-bit digital, (1) Frequency response (-3db and/or 90 phase shift): 5 Hz at 0.03 in. amplitude and 200 lb. load, (m) Minimal EMI emissions, (n) Nominal envelope: 4 in. x 6 in. x 15 in. (mid-stroke), (o) Maximum weight: 10 lbs., (p) Maximum backlash: Less than 0.01 inc., (g) No mechanical stopsare required.
