NASA Lewis Research Center is planning to acquire a technology display model of an oil-free turbocharger. The display model shall be sized for table-top display of the application of state-of-the-art high-load-capacity and high-temperature oil-free bearing technology to a production turbocharger for class 8 truck heavy-duty diesel engines. The display model is not intended to be fully-functional hardware but the components shall be based on designs intended for operational use. The oil-free turbocharger display model shall include a Schwitzer S410 turbocharger modified to accommodate Mohawk Innovative Technology Incorporated prototype journal and thrust foil bearings with Government furnished bearing surface coatings. The turbocharger model shall be cut to expose the position, size, and general details of the oil-free bearing technology. Exposed surfaces of the model shall be finished with suitable coatings or paint to provide durability, corrison resistance and a professional appearance. This notice is for information only.
