S -- CAFETERIA SERVICES SOL 52-SAAA-7-00034 POC Howard Price, Contracting Officer, 202-482-4185, FAX 202-482-0546 The Department of Commerce (DOC)intends to procure cafeteria services for their headquarters building at 14th & Constitution Avenues, Washington, DC. (The HCHB building). DOC's requirements include a full service cafeteria plus catering services; however, offerors will be permitted to submit alternate proposals also. The HCHB building currently houses 4000 employees; however, there are many other places to eat in close proximity to the building. The new Ronald Reagan building will be opening this summer across the street which may contain up to 12 different eating establishments in which HCHB employees will have access to via an underground tunnel. The cafeteria is closed to the public; however, prearranged tour groups are allowed. The current contractor is Aramark Corporation. The successful offeror will be required to contribute a percentage of gross sales (to be negotiated) to the maintenance and repair of the Government-owned equipment. Selection of a successful offeror will be heavily weightedon technical approach, experience and past performance. Once the solicitation has been issued, the DOC will hold a preproposal conference and a simultaneous site-visit. An award is expected by June 1997. Proposals are expected to be due 30 days after solicitation issuance. The solicitation issue date is unknown at this time. The planned period of performance is a one-year base period plus 3 2-year option periods.
