The US Army Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) proposes award to design and fabricate composite preforms for a munitions component utilizing fiber braiding and filament winding technology. The contractor will support the development of the Automated Concurrent Engineering Software (ACES) program by the Design & Manufacturing Institute (DMI) in gathering and inputting data for the resin, preform, process, equipment and cost estimation knowledge blocks for the ACES system. The contractor shall design and fabricate composite preforms for a munitions component (specified by Government engineers) utilizing fiber braiding, filament winding technology and the Automated Concurrent Engineering Software (ACES). The contractor shall use these preforms and the molding parameters from ACES int the resin transfer molding of the final composite munitions component. The contractor shall acquire, build and develop and integrated RTM system that would accept molding parameters from ACES. ARDEC intends to award a sole source contract to Fiber Concepts Inc., Conshohcken, PA because of the unique technology required. Facsimile responses are not acceptable.
