W -- RENEWAL OF LEASE OF EXISTING 3301B TELECOMMUNICATIONS SWITCHING SYSTEM, FORT RUCKER, ALABAMA SOL DABT01-97-R-0001 DUE 050797 POC Contract Specialist, SUSAN MONTGOMERY, (334)255-3894, Contracting Officer, ELNORA SMITH-KILLINGS, (334)255-3019, (Site Code DABT01) Notice is given of the intent to negotiate a Sole Source Procurement for Renewal of an Existing Lease with General Telephone of the South, Inc., (GTE), 206 W. Troy Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301, for the Integrated Voice Communications Switching System (IVCSS), solely owned by GTE, and presently located at Cairns Army Airfield, Fort Rucker, Alabama. The requirement is for a three (3) month Base Lease Period, 1 October 1997 -- 31 December 1997, with three three-month lease options, of the IVCSS which provides access to the Ground-to-air Radios furnished by the Government and to Leased or Government-owned Land Lines for the purpose of providing Air Traffic Services in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations. The requirement includes Repair, Maintenance, and Manual Ringdown Service. The requirement is for continuation of the existing lease until the FAA completes the purchase of a new system on a fully competitive basis with a projected effective, operational date for the new system in calendar year 1997. The repair and maintenance requirement for the currently installed system cannot be competed separately due to the proprietary rights held by GTE which GTE will not release. See Numbered Note 22. Copies of the RFP for this renewal lease are not available unless the business concern provides evidence to the Contracting Officer that it can, practicably, meet this interim requirement. (0044)
