COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 19,1997 PSA#1785

US Army, CECOM Acquisition Center, Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey 07703-5008

A -- ELECTRICALLY AND/OR MECHANICALLY STEERABLE SATCOM ANTENNA SOL NA DUE 022697 POC Point of Contact -- Mr. Gary Blohm, 908-427-2737. E-MAIL: SATCOM Antenna, koutsout@doim6.monmouth.army.mil. The US Army CECOM Space and Terrestrial Communication Directorate(S&TCD) is conducting this survey to determine potential sources of electrically or a combination of electrically and mechanically steerable satellite communications antenna. Two types of antenna are required: 1) a linearly polarized Ku Band antenna for the short term (by 15 March 1997) and 2) a circularly polarized Ka Band antenna (by early 1998). The antennas must be mountable on a military High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). It is desirable that the antenna acquire a geosynchronous-satellite and provide a continously usable signal when the HMMWV is on the move. On the pause acquisition for the Ku Band antenna may be acceptable. This means that from the time the HMMWV stops, sets up, acquisition and tracking shall be established and data from the antenna low noise amplifer shall be available within 90 seconds. To permit the HMMWV to move quickly, tear down time for the Ku Band antenna shall be less than 90 seconds. The linearly polarized Ku Band antenna shall have a G/T of at least 18dB/K. The Ka Band antenna shall operate on the move. Any subsequent award may be placed under the DARPA sponsored Dual-Use and Applications Program(DUAP), in which case the government will provide a military customer. Interested parties are to submit White Papers, not to excede ten written pages, with no more than six additional pages of drawings and data sheets. Cost information is to be included. White papers must be received no later than 4:00 PM, 26 February 1997, at HQ USA CECOM, Attn: AMSEL-RD-ST-SY-TE (Mr. Gary Blohm), Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey 07703-5203. The Project Leader is Mr. Gary Blohm at 908-427-2737, or FAX number 908-427-3267. Questions concerning this announcement may be addressed to Mr. Steve Koutsoutis at 908-427-2853, same FAX number or koutsout@doim6.monmouth.army.mil. (0045)
