Kirksey, (860) 285-7281 The United States Postal Service is in the process of establishing a list of prequalified firms for the installation of Category 5 Cabling in postal facilities in the Northeast Area including Western NY. This list will be utilized to solicit proposals for the next two years for the installation of LAN infrastructure cable will provide information technology that will support business applications within post offices throughout the United States. A typical post office ranges in size from 5,000 square feet to 20,000 square feet. However, there are a few offices that are multi-floor and exceed 20,000 square feet. All offices have a sales window service area, lobby, workfloor, administrative office, and dock area. This system will provide connectivity to corporate business processing computer systems and support computer applications within the U. S. Postal Service. After the evaluation process the Postal Service will determine which firms are qualified and eligible to receive future solicitations and contracts for the Postal Service cabling requirements. Among other evaluation factors, to be qualified, a firm must demonstrate: (a) minimum of five (5) years experience in the installation of cabling, (b) its understanding of the U. S. Postal Service Standard Wiring Specification and Statement of Work, and its understanding of the (c) Associate Office Infrastructure (AOI) Procedures. The Postal Service is planning a pre-qualification conference during which potential contractors may obtain a better understanding of the prequalification process and the AOI Lan Cabling System requirement. The conference will be held at U. S. Postal Service, 8 Griffin Road North, Wing 2A, Windsor, CT 06095-1572, on February 25, 1997, at 10:00 AM. Firms interested in applying for prequalification must request a prequalification package no later than March 14, 1997.
