requires a fully found vessel from which to conduct a geophysical
survey of the Puget Sound area. The survey is scheduled to begin on or
about June 23, 1997 and be completed on or about July 5, 1997. Two (2)
days of mobilization and one (1) day of demobilization in Seattle are
anticipated. The contractor will provide ship crew, fuel, oil, food for
passengers and crew, and support equipment, as will be required to
conduct 24-hour operations for the 12-day duration of the survey. The
vessel must conform to all appropriate Coast Guard regulations
concerning working vessels. The following features are required of the
vessel:accommodations for a minimum of 8 passengers, with a maximum of
2 persons berthed in each cabin; approximately 200 square feet
(minimum) of open deck space, including one area measuring at least IO
by IO square feet, and an open fantail from which geophysical
equipment can he safely deployed and towed capacity for up to 6000
pounds of deck mounted or deck stowed equipment; approximately 120
square feet (minimum) of interior, ventilated cabin space suitable for
use as an electronics laboratory, preferably on the main deck and
readily accessible to the fan tail; capability to maintain steerage at
slow speed (3-4 knot through water); dedicated, clean power for
electronic equipment; interior laboratory requires a minimum of four
(4) 1 lOv-20a circuits and two (2) 220v-30a circuits. The vessel will
be towing a small (one inch) diameter) cable extending approximately
1300 feet astern. Captain and mate(s) should have experience towing
equipment of this nature and should be familiar with the Puget Sound
Vessel Traffic System. Deck equipment to be supplied by the government
includes a diesel powered high pressure air compressor. This unit
measures approximately 10 feet long, 5 feet wide, and 5 feet high and
weighs 4000 pounds. The compressor requires approximately sixty (60)
gallons per day of #2 diesel fuel. The vessel must be capable of
supplying such fuel periodically to the area of the deck where the
compressor is located. Contractor will be reimbursed separately for the
cost of this fuel. Towing davits and/or an "A" frame are desirable. At
a minimum, it must he possible to affix towing davits to the deck or
