The U.S. Geological Survey requires a fully found vessel from which to conduct a geophysical survey of the Puget Sound area. The survey is scheduled to begin on or about June 23, 1997 and be completed on or about July 5, 1997. Two (2) days of mobilization and one (1) day of demobilization in Seattle are anticipated. The contractor will provide ship crew, fuel, oil, food for passengers and crew, and support equipment, as will be required to conduct 24-hour operations for the 12-day duration of the survey. The vessel must conform to all appropriate Coast Guard regulations concerning working vessels. The following features are required of the vessel:accommodations for a minimum of 8 passengers, with a maximum of 2 persons berthed in each cabin; approximately 200 square feet (minimum) of open deck space, including one area measuring at least IO by IO square feet, and an open fantail from which geophysical equipment can he safely deployed and towed capacity for up to 6000 pounds of deck mounted or deck stowed equipment; approximately 120 square feet (minimum) of interior, ventilated cabin space suitable for use as an electronics laboratory, preferably on the main deck and readily accessible to the fan tail; capability to maintain steerage at slow speed (3-4 knot through water); dedicated, clean power for electronic equipment; interior laboratory requires a minimum of four (4) 1 lOv-20a circuits and two (2) 220v-30a circuits. The vessel will be towing a small (one inch) diameter) cable extending approximately 1300 feet astern. Captain and mate(s) should have experience towing equipment of this nature and should be familiar with the Puget Sound Vessel Traffic System. Deck equipment to be supplied by the government includes a diesel powered high pressure air compressor. This unit measures approximately 10 feet long, 5 feet wide, and 5 feet high and weighs 4000 pounds. The compressor requires approximately sixty (60) gallons per day of #2 diesel fuel. The vessel must be capable of supplying such fuel periodically to the area of the deck where the compressor is located. Contractor will be reimbursed separately for the cost of this fuel. Towing davits and/or an "A" frame are desirable. At a minimum, it must he possible to affix towing davits to the deck or rail of the vessel. In your response, please provide deck layouts and pictures of vessel if possible, as well as a summary of vessel capabilities.
