plans to purchase approximately 8,500 linear feet of new PSA-23 hot
rolled steel sheet piling "Domestic Manufacture-United States" meeting
the requirements of ASTM A328 or greater. Lengths will vary between 40
and 60 feet. The work covered by this specification consists of
furnishing and delivering new steel sheet piling to Bayou Sorrel Lock,
Iberville Parish, Louisiana in accordance with these specifications.
The following American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
standard of issue listed below and referred to thereafter by basic
designation only form a part of this specifications to the extent
indicated by the references thereto: A328-93 Steel Sheet Piling. Steel
sheet piling shall be tested and certified by the manufacturer to meet
the specified chemical, mechanical, and section property requirements
prior to site delivery. Materials test certificates shall be submitted
for each shipment and identified with specific lots prior to
delivering piling. Identification data should include piling type,
dimensions, section properties, heat analysis number, chemical
composition, mechanical properties and mill identification mark.
Materials delivered to the site shall be new and undamaged and shall be
accompanied by certified test reports. Sheet piling shall be stored,
blocked and handled in the manner recommended by the manufacturer to
prevent contact with the ground and permanent deflection, distortion or
damage to the interlocks. Storage of sheet piling should also
facilitate required inspection activities. The sheet piling shall be
delivered and off loaded by the supplier onto the bank (ground) on the
northeast side of Bayou Sorrel Lock. All equipment and labor to off
load the material shall be furnished by the supplier. Steel for sheet
piling shall be new and conform to ASTM 328. Sheet piling shall be of
one type and be of a design such that when in place they wil be
continuously interlocked throughout their entire length. All 60 and 50
foot long piling shall be provided withstandard pulling holes located
approximately 4-inches below the top of the pile. All 40 foot long
sheet piling may be provided without standard pulling holes.
Combinations of piling types will not be permitted. Piling shall have
the properties equal to or greater than those listed as follows:

THEORETICAL DRIVING WIDTH (IN.): 16. All interested parties may submit
