977-1-272357. USAID/Nepal is requesting competitive applications for
the award of up to six separate grants to six recipients to support
programs of US and International NGOs to implement an "Integrated
Community-based Family Health Program" during the period 1997-2002. The
integrated community-based programs shall be carried out in areas of
Nepal which are unserved or underserved by the public sector. The
target population comprises women and men of reproductive age and
children under five. Grants will be awarded for each or a combination
of the following two types of activities: (1) Integrated
community-based family health programs that include a range of
interventions such as family planning, reproductive health, maternal
and child health and STD/HIV/AIDS prevention, (2) programs to provide
support in complementary areas, e.g. basic and post-literacy classes
focused on health education and community nutrition activities, to
other potential recipients under this RFA as well as to other
USAID/Nepal cooperating agencies working in health. It is estimated
that the total costs of these agreements will be approximately US $7.2
-- 8 million. Grants will be for US $1.2 -- 1.5 million for the five
year period. The publication of this notice in the CBD and the deadline
for receipt of applications will be no later than 45 days after the
date of RFA issuance at the specified submission location at
USAID/Nepal, Kathmandu, Nepal. Applications received after this date
will not be considered. An award of a grant agreement is expected
resulting from this Request For Application. This CBD notice can be
