The INS has a requirement to outfit a customer provided LORIS 445L infrared camera manufactured by Inframetrics, Inc. with a weatherproof protection. The protection provided must allow the LORIS camera to operate undamaged aboard ship in an open deck mount configuration. The LORIS camera must be protected from corrosive elements normally found in a maritime environment such as salt air and sea spray. The upgrade will require the following: front lens with DLC (diamond like coating); improved "O" ring seals; and stainless steel sealing type screws. Secondly, there is a requirement to test a wireless remote control capability for LORIS 445L infrared cameras manufactured by Inframetrics, Inc. The control unit shall consist of a laptop PC, digital control panel, remote control and serial interfaces, wireless remote control of 445L, and operating software. Associated transmission equipment shall be capable of communicating with cameras up to 5 miles from the control unit. All camera functions shall be controlled by the remote system.
