This solicitation is for planning purposes only. Release date of the solicitation is anticipated to be in the 1st Quarter 1998 timeframe. Logicon Syscon, Inc. -- Syre, a support service contractor to NASA Ames Research Center, is seeking information for a Visual Display System Replacement for use in a large amplitude, motion based flight simulator. General requirements for consideration include the following: (1) compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) level "D" visual system specifications for rotor and fixed wing aircraft simulators; (2) capability to support both raster scan images and calligraphic lights; (3) continuous field of view; (4) image collimation; (5) cross-cockpit viewing; (6) single or side-by-side pilot seating; (7) accommodation for an off-axis chin window to support rotorcraft simulation. Motion envelope limitations for the lartge amplitude motion system restrict gross weight of the display system to 4000 lbs and maximum distance from the pilot's eye point to eight (8) feet radius of curvature or less. Companies with systems that are not currently fully developed and in production, but could be available in the 3rd Quarter 1997 timeframe, are encouraged to respond. We are requesting that all possible sources and information be provided in reference to any equipment that will meet our requirements. Product literature that contains "PROPRIETARY" information should be appropriately marked.
