Chang, 202-708-9740 The National Center for Education Statistics plans to conduct the base year and first follow up waves of the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study beginning in fall of 1998. Data will be collected twice in the base year, fall kindergarten and spring kindergarten. First follow up data is scheduled to be collect in the spring of first grade. A national sample of 23,000 kindergartners attending approximately 1,000 schools will be selected to participate in the study. The design includes direct child assessments, parent, teacher, and school administrator components. RFP 97-003 will be issued on or about March 10, 1997. It is anticipated that the closing date for receipt will be on May 8, 1997. Telephone requested should be placed by calling (202) 708-6498. Copies may be picked up after the date of release. Because of tightened security, offerors can not enter our building on their own. To pick up a copy of the RFP or to drop off proposals, offerors shall go to the D Street exit and have the guard call the Support Service Group (SSG) at 708-8191 and ask to sign the offerors in, in order to deliver the proposals to SSG.
