U-MEETING ON ASSESSMENT ISSUES The United States Department of Education will hold a public meeting on the development of national tests in 4th grade reading and 8th grade mathematics on Wednesday February 26, 1997 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. This meeting will take place in the Barnard Auditorium, Room 2413, on the second floor of the Departments Headquarter Building at 600 Independence Ave., SW, Washington, D.C. This meeting will include discussion, related to the development and use of these tests by a panel of test publishers. Following the discussion, there will be a time to address questions from the public. An electronic summary will later be placed on the Department's Web Site, http://www.ed.gov. All interested parties are invited to attend.
