Engineering Command, Naval Station, Norfolk, Virginia proposes the use
of a sole source procurement to provide and install a wet type bullet
catchment system for Small Arms Range located at the Naval Amphibious
Base, Little Creek, Virginia. The work includes the installation of a
wet bullet recovery system for the indoor firing range capable of
meeting the following performance requirements: a) OSHA compliance in
maximum daily lead permissible exposure limit (PEL) = 0.05 mg/cubic
meter behind the bullet catchment system; b) have a means of
decelerating the bullet and the bullet mass remaining 98% intact by
weight; c) automatic disposal of spent bullets. This contract action is
for supplies and services for which the Government intends to solicit
and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302.
Interested sources may identify their interest and capability to
respond to the requirement by notifying the Government not later than
6 March 1997. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE
PROPOSALS. A determination by the Government not to open the
requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice of
intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of
determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any inquires

$500,000. The SIC Code for this project is 1799 with a size standard of
