NASA/MSFC intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) on a sole source basis, for up to fifty-six (56) Reusable Solid Rocket Motor (RSRM) Flight Sets plus eight (8) flight support motors (120 motors) for the Space Transportation System. This effort includes refurbishment of expended flight hardware, acquisition and sustenance of tooling to sustain production rate, furnishing of a launch site support part and materials inventory, providing overhaul and repair of RSRM components and related hardware, providing management, engineering and technical effort for: (1) maintenance of RSRM specification baseline and data requirements in support of RSRM production and delivery; (2) operations and flight support; and (3) integration support and special studies. This effort is a continuation of work currently being performed under Contract NAS8-38100 with Thiokol Corporation, Space Operations, P.O. Box 707, Brigham City, UT, 84302 -- Work to be performed near Brigham City and Clearfield, UT; Kennedy Space Center, FL; and Marshall Space Flight Center, AL. It is suggested that small business firms or others interested in subcontracting opportunities in connection with this acquisition make direct contact with the above firm.
