E-MAIL: Global Broadcast Service (GBS) Ground Terminal Requirements, santamj@doim6.monmouth.army.mil. Global Broadcast Service (GBS) is a joint service program that responds to the need for a continuous, high-speed, one-way information flow of high volume multi-media information such as imagery, maps, weather data, logistics, air tasking orders, etc. to users worldwide. The GBS system consists of broadcast management, space, and terminal segments. As part of an overall three phased GBS program, the US Army (PM Milsatcom) is planning the terminal segment acquisition for Phase II (FY 97-02+). Phase II will provide a worldwide interim capability using a GBS package hosted on Navy operated UHF Follow-On (UFO) satellites 8, 9 and 10 and terminals operating at Ka and Ku band. Two Interim Injection Points (IIP) with ten Interim Ground Receive Terminals (IGRT), one Primary Injection Point (PIP), 130 Fixed Ground Receive Terminals (FGRT), 50 Ku Antenna Systems, 20 Transportable Ground Receive Terminals (TGRT), and 100 Integrated Receiver Decoders (IRD) will be purchased on the basic award with testing, spare parts, training, contractor support, and associated data. These quantities include the FGRT, TGRT, and IRD units that will be shipped to the Air Force integration contractor for Phase II. Options for up to two additional PIPs (with testing, spare parts, training, contractor support, and associated data) are included along with range option quantities for additional IGRTs, PIP modems, FGRTs, TGRTs, Ku Antenna Systems, and IRDs. This acquisition also includes options for up to three Transportable Theater Injection (TTI) Satellite Terminals. Delivery of IIPs and the PIP are required 9 and 17 months after contract award, respectively. All draft solicitation documents will appear, and the Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued, on CECOM's Electronic Source Selection testbed on the WWW in lieu of the CECOM Command Electronic Bulletin Board (EBB).
