The U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command intends to award a one-time sole-source purchase order using simplified purchase methods iaw FAR Part 13 to Hughes Research Labs Inc., Malibu, CA. This is a one-time five-month effort to extend efforts conducted under an FY 96 SIMTECH initiative "Fuzzy Tables". Performance must be completed by 31 August 1997. The original effort captured and represented data describing foreign battery-level offense fire support operations. The technology captured behavioral information from subject matter experts and represented that information in computer readable form. The knowledge acquisition and engineering technology is based on Hughes' proprietary Modular Knowledge Acquisition Tool (M-KAT). This requirement will extend the foreign fire support operations knowledge to represent battery-level defensive fire support operations. Sole Source Authority: 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). This notice is not a request for competitive quotations. No written request for quotations exists. Interested parties may identify their interest by submitting fully descriptive capability statements no later than 15 days from the date of publication of this synopsis. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement.
