The Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division, China Lake, CA intends to procure from the University of Utah Energy and Geoscience Institute (EGI), 423 Wakara Way, Suite 125, Salt Lake City, UT 84108 on an other than full and open competition basis, analysis of extant and emergent geochemical and isotopic data to monitor the chemistry and source of fluids of the Coso geothermal reservoir and the area around the Coso Hot Springs Resort, both located at the Naval Air Warfare Center, China Lake. The work consists of gathering and evaluating geochemical data; updating the existing geochemical data bases; tracking the maturity and overall health of the geothermal field using a variety of chemical parameters developed in the data base (including rare earth elements and stable isotopes); investigating the application of additional geochemical measurements as they apply to an overall understanding of the Coso geothermal field/Coso Hot Springs; and preparation of reports. This contract effort will be for a period of one basic year with three one-year options. EGI has specific, specialized knowledge of the Coso geothermal field from 17 years previous experience there. EGI has possession of existing data and has a unique insight and perspective critical to the success of this acquisition that is unavailable on the open market.
