Shaffer (written submission only) 17.DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS -- This is a presolicitation REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) synopsis. Naval Sea Systems Command Detachment PERA (CV) is conducting market research only. No award is intended as a result of this synopsis nor does the Government intend to pay for information received. PERA (CV) is interested in receiving information with regards to commercial applications relevant to CEMAT. CEMAT (Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assist Team) provides engineering and technical services to the ship's force personnel on board CV/CVN's and the associated battle group vessels. Services consist of "hands-on" training and instruction in the safe application of current methods, tools, and techniques used in the diagnosis, fault isolation, repair, functional check, operational test, and final adjustment of specific Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical(HM&E) systems and equipment. Primary focus is to improve ship's force ability to successfully perform preventitive and corrective maintenance, install minor upgrades, and document system/component material condition. Complex or extensive repairs beyond ship's force scope are screened to intermediate or depot level maintenance activities. Information requested includes ommercial methodology of acquisition, contract type, known market forces, challenges to successful acquisition, and current indusrty program designs. The Government is not interested in specific comnpany capability information and will not entertain such submissions. Submissions will be accepted in writing or via e-mail only.
