Carr, Contract Specialist, 202-324-5821 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and written solicitations will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) #70136. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition circular (FAC) 90-42. This solicitation is under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). Standard Industrial Classification is 3443. This will be a Firm-Fixed Price Contract. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate the contract action on a sole source basis with PTE Distribution, 7233 Adams Street, Willowbrook, IL 60521. PTE Distribution, is the sole qualified supplier of one (1) Model CH10 Freestanding Vacuum Chamber and one (1) thirty gallon pressure release tank with galvanized steel,plated gasketed head safety pressure release valve and concave bottom for "clean" draining. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, interest parties may submit a proposal in which they identify their interest and capability. All proposals received within 45 days of this notice will be considered by the Government soley for the purpose of determining whether to initiate a competitive procurement. The Government reserves the right to process the procurement on a sole source basis based upon the responses received. The requirement consists of vacuum chamber; constructed of 3/8" hot rolled steel plate with welded stiffeners on both sides, back and top, all welds continuous, door; 3" welded steel channel frame with a 3" plexi window and 3/8" diameter o-ring seal, door is removable and has adjustable door latches, stand; 3" x 1/4" steel angle welded construction with four heavy duty casters, 2 1/2" wide x 5" diameter, front two wheels are of the swivel type, turntable of appropriate diameter for respective chamber, 3/8" thick aluminum plate connected to a right angle gear box with a 6" diameter hand crank, gear box to be bottom mounted allowing room for vacuum pump to be placed on tray, turntable to be placed on metal rollers attached to bottom of chamber, cup holder pouring mechanism, vacuum gauge and all plumbing needed for normal operation, electrical "whip" for 230v, made to order so specific applications can be accomodated if needed, outside dimensions; 32" x 32" x 66", inside dimensions; 24" x 24" x 30", power; 220 vac, maximum vacuum; 29.5" Hg, vacuum cycle time; 120 seconds, vacuum pump; 2 hp -- 28 cfm, pressure tank, 110 PSIG maximum working pressure -- Warranty period one year -- Shipping FOB -- Orgin -- Delivery -- Engineering Research Facility, Quantico, VA 22135 -- All proposals shall be submitted to the address listed above no later than 4:00PM EST, April 14, 1997.
