Defense Industrial Supply Center (DISC) is seeking proposals from
business entities interested in participating in an acquisition as a
Prime Vendor for material handling supplies for the Eastern United
States. The solicitation will include but is not limited to conveyors;
materials handling equipment, nonselfpropelled; blocks; tackle;
rigging; slings; skids; pallets; cargo covers; ramps; racks;
containers; tote boxes; fiber rope; cordage; twine; drums; cans;
bottles; jars; specialized shipping and storage containers; bags;
sacks; boxes; cartons; crates; reels; spools; packaging; packing; bulk
packaging materials and Pallet Management to include new, rebuilt, and
repaired pallets plus scrap removal. All items are brand name specific
and/or generic commercial products. A Prime Vendor, or integrated
supplier, can be defined as the designation of a single source of
supply fora wide range of products. The initial implementation of the
initiative will take place at DLA depots under Defense Depot Region
East; Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Ga (Direct Support Stock
Control Branch); and Fort Campbell, KY (Installation Supply and
Services Division). Future potential implementation sites would include
approximately 98 additional military facilities located in the eastern
region of the United States. Prospective contractors should have an
on-line Electronic Order Entry (EOE) with Electronic Data Interchange
(EDI) capability within one year of the contract effective date. The
subject solicitation will be issued on an unrestricted basis with the
resultant contract being an Indefinite Quantity Contract (IQC) for one
base year with four (4) one-year term options. This will be a best
value, source selection acquisition in which technical merit is
considered more important than price. The solicitation, including the
Statement of Work and complete details and conditions, is expected to
be issued on 12 March 1997 with an estimated closing date of 25 April
