COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 28,1997 PSA#1792INDUSTRY DAYS AND PRESOLICITATION BRIEFING "Industry Days And
Presolicitation Briefing," -- The Air Force's Manufacturing Technology
Directorate as part of Wright Laboratory, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH
(WL/MT) will conduct a presolicitation bidders' conference to
disseminate information relative to the goals and objectives of the
Technology Transition Enhancement Through Lean Principle Adaptation
project. WL/MT manages a cooperative agreement with the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology to bring the defense aircraft industry together
in a consortium arrangement for precompetitive research and assessment.
Findings from the Lean Aircraft Initiative provide the basis for a
Broad Agency Announcement titled, "Technology Transition Enhancement
Through Lean Principle Adaption," to be issued by WL/MT shortly after
this presolicitation briefing. The project is targeted at requirements
to transition advanced technology from the research and development
community to production application on military weapon systems. The
presentation will commence at 1500 hours, 9 April 1997, at the Crowne
Plaza Hotel in Dayton, OH, as the final activity of Industrial Base
Pilots Industry Days. This event features two full days (8-9 April) of
presentations focusing on the lean enterprise improvements made via
three Industrial Base Pilot programs: Military Products from Commercial
Lines (with TRW); Military Products Using Best Commercial/Military
Practices (with McDonnell-Douglas); and, the Modular Factory Pilot
(with McDonnell Douglas, Lockheed-Martin, Hughes, and Northrop
Grumman). Additional insight into implementation issues will be
addressed by a customer panel. Interested companies are invited to
attend all of these sessions on 8 and 9 April 1997. Those parties only
interested in the presolicitation briefing are not required to
register for Industry Days, but will not be admitted to any other
presentations. Invitation packages for Industry Days may be requested
by contacting Ms. Tracy Tapia, UTC, at 937-426-2808. Technical
questions regarding these sessions may be directed to Ms. Mary
Kinsella, WL/MTM, at 937-255-5669. Questions regarding the
presolicitation briefing may be addressed to Mr. Kevin Spitzer, WL/MTP,
at 937-255-2413.***** Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0521 19970228\SP-0003.MSC)
