The U.S. Postal Service is seeking to prequalify firms for the sale and distribution of postal uniforms to 182,000 postal employees nationwide. The initial contract term will be four years with three, two-year renewal options. The supplier will be required to provide color catalogs, an ordering process using forms and/or an 800 number, shipment of orders within three working days, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) capabilities compatible with the U.S. Postal Service system and a uniform allowance data system that maintains employee account data. Firms will be prequalified through the evaluation of written responses and oral presentations. Evaluation factors may include but not be limited to; security clearance, financial stability, prior experience of at least five years, current production commitments, current production capabilities, background of key personnel, inventory control and a sub-contracting plan. Only those firms prequalified will receive the Request for Proposal (RFP). Requests for prequalification packages must be submitted in writing between March 17, 1997 and the close of business April 11, 1997. (0058)
