U-MEETING ON ASSESSMENT ISSUES The United States Department of Education will hold a public meeting on the development of national tests in 4th grade reading and 8th grade mathematics on Tuesday March 4, 1997 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. This meeting will take place in the Barnard Auditorium, Room 2411, on the second floor of the Departments Headquarter Building at 600 Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, D.C. This meeting will include a brief presentation and audience members will then be free to ask questions and raise issues related to the tests. An electronic summary will later be placed on the Department's Web Site, http://www.ed.gov. All interested parties are invited to attend.
