Approximate bid opening date will be 15 April, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. The work includes upgrading the ventilation system, sanitary drainage system, power distribution system, and lighting system, as well as, adding a sprinkler system and liquid tight manhole covers to the tunnel. Eight (8) existing ventilation grates in the top of the tunnel will be replaced with three (3) section gasketed steel plate covers. The ventilation system shall be upgraded by the addition of ten (10) fans and associated ductwork to allow the tunnel to be ventilated at a minimum of six changes per hour. The upgrade to the sanitary drainage system will consist of replacing the existing fifteen (15) sump pumps with new explosion proof pumps. The power distribution system and lighting system will be replaced by new explosion proof devices and wiring. The work is required in order for the tunnel to comply with MIL-HDBK-1008B and NFPA 88B. Estimated cost is between $100,000.00 and $250,000.00. Estimated duration is 105 days for completion. This procurement is classified as unrestricted. (0058)
