Bethesda, Maryland 20892-6402 A -- CREATION OF TRANSGENIC MICE FOR STUDY OF DEVELOPMENT OF BONE,
CARTILAGE, CRANIOFACIAL AND TOOTH TISSUES SOL RFP NIH-NIDR-2-97-7R DUE
043097 POC Marion L. Blevins 301 594-0652 The National Institute of
Dental Research has a requirement for the creation of transgenic mice
to study regulation and in vivo function of gene products involved in
the formation of bone, cartilage, tooth and craniofacial tissues. The
contractor must be able to create three types of transgenic mice: 1.
transgenic mice expressing previously known genes and also newly
identified genes in NIDR's Oral Genome Project under the control of a
tissue-specific promoter or a strong general promoter (i.e. CMV and
beta-actin promoters), 2. transgenic mice harboring a reporter gene
(i.e. lacz gene for beta-galactosidase) under the control of various
lengths of the promoter and enhancer of the genes described above, and
3. transgenic mice expressing the Cre recombinase under the control of
a tissue-specific promoter. The contractor must have the capability to
generate a minimum of five founding lines per construct for
approximately 100 constructs to be provided by NIDR over a period of
three years. See Note 1. (0059) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0002 19970304\A-0002.SOL)
