This is a notice of intent to negotiate with Gentex Corporation, Carbondale, Pennsylvania 18407 on an other than full and open competitive basis for the purchase of Laser Safe Visors, quantity 490, Part Number 93D8482-1, that attach to the HGU-84/P Helo Helmet used by H-60 aircraft crewmembers utilizing the laser designator in the AN/AAS-44 FLIR unit. These Laser Safe Visors are to be permanently stamped for wavelength of protection and Optical Density and must meet all applicable Navy crew safety requirements. Gentex has been identified as the only responsible source that has met the qualification testing program in order to verify both laser safety and general aviation safety. It is anticipated that a firm-fixed price contract will be awarded as a result of this solicitation. The laser protective visors will be delivered to Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, 6000 E. 21st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219-2189, Attention: R. Richards/Dave Hollinberger, MS-77. Laser protective visors will bedelivered 90 days after contract award.
