E-MAIL: DOD Invites Industry, rittenbk@ftm.disa.mil. The draft Profile states DOD's minimum interoperability requirements for VTC as well as optional features. Once approved, this draft will replace the Industry Profile for VTC, VTC001, dated 25 April 1995. It will also become Appendix A of FIPS PUB 178-1, the Federal Standard for VTC. This draft expands and updates the previous version of the Profile. It adds detailed profiles and Protocol Implementation Conformance Statements (PICS) of the ITU T.120 series of collaborative multimedia standards. These multipoint protocols provide for a whole new range of collaborative multimedia applications, including desktop data conferencing, file transfer, still image transfer with annotation capabilities, facsimile, and shared whiteboard. It also provides additional security interface specifications. Industry is invited to review this document for accuracy and technical feasibility and provide comments no later than Apr 30, 1997. All information shall be provided at no cost to the government, and all organizations willing to participate will do so at their own expense.
