Provide professional engineering services to prepare the design development program submission, preliminary drawings, working drawings, specifications, including the cost estimates, and construction period services to replace 4.16KV & 480V Distribution Switchgear at VA Hospital, Hines, IL. The project is to replace obsolete electrical equipment and to provide a reliable coordinated electrical system to serve the hospital complex. This will involve the replacement of all old federal pacific breakers. Modification of the distribution system to separate all mechanical loads to one source of power backed up by its own generator and modification of electrical distribution panels/closets to meet current codes to suit a new distribution scheme for safety/convenience. Estimated construction cost is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000. Area of consideration is restricted to 100 miles of the Hines VA Hospital, Hines, IL. Selection criteria will be based on (1) past performance on similar projects, maintaining project schedules and project budgets; (2) Overall design experience and capability with Architectural, mechanical and electrical renovation projects; (3) Qualifications of staff to be assigned, with special emphasis on field personnel to be utilized; (4) Knowledge in design and construction requirements; (5) Cost control effectiveness; (6) Ability to produce specifications on a 3.5 disk for WordPerfect 5.1, ability to produce specifications on a CAD system fully compatible with Auto CAD Release 13.
